Directorate for Scientific Affairs and International Relations

Internationalisation is a strategic goal of the University of Miskolc. The University aims to provide its students, faculty, academic and business partners with a stimulating and supportive environment. Here they can pursue their studies, teaching and research in an international atmosphere and to a high standard, as an integral part of the European and international education and research area. Additionally, the University aims to promote the social, cultural and economic development of the city and the region through its internationalisation activities.

To achieve these goals, the University of Miskolc is consciously building international partnerships and academic international visibility and the number of international students. This is done through both faculty and central initiatives, with significant contributions from the colleagues of the Directorate of Science and International Affairs.

The eight faculties of the University are in contact with nearly 200 international partner universities worldwide. This extensive network results in numerous international education and research projects (such as Erasmus, EIT, Horizon, Life, HUSK, etc.) being launched each year under the auspices of the faculties.

The University currently offers thirty English-language programmes at the bachelor, master and doctoral levels. The number of courses in English is constantly growing, with more than 400 courses now available.

The Erasmus+, Ceepus and Pannonia programmes provide the primary framework for outgoing and incoming partial studies and other mobility. Since 2014 the University has been actively involved in the successful implementation of the Stipendium Hungaricum and Christian Scholarship programmes.

As a result of the internationalisation activities, the University of Miskolc was recognised in the QS and THE rankings in 2019.

Due to the international efforts at both central and faculty levels, the campus hosts several international conferences and summer universities. These events attract members of various international organisations, in addition to our strategic partners. The most important of these, of which the University holds membership, are the EUA, EAIE and SEFI.
