Research areas

Creative Region project

In the framework of the program, we explore the possible areas and implementation opportunities for new social and cultural innovations, relying on the regional research experiences of social and cultural innovations. To achieve this, a new interdisciplinary team is being formed, involving experts from economics, social sciences, health, law and humanities, based on their previous research activities. The project is a socio-economic-cultural innovation model, which is currently based on the complex examination of 25 settlements in the Abaúj region (mainly in the Encsi district), including demographic, sociological, and health screening of children, revealing the situation of the social economy, local businesses, local values, and local knowledge.

Building Equitable Classroom

Complex instruction is a pedagogical approach that enables students to learn and teachers to teach at a high intellectual level in academically, linguistically, racially, ethnically, and socially heterogeneous classrooms.

ENGaGE project

The goal of our project is to develop inclusive language teaching tasks and materials for dyslexic learners of English and German in primary school settings. The project is to be realised with the cooperation of seven partners from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the United Kingdom, who will contribute their expertise in second language acquisition research, teacher training, curriculum design, course book writing, and digitalised learning.

International network

The faculty has an extensive network of international contacts which enables not only Hungarian students the opportunity to study and work abroad but also for international students and lecturers to visit our university and work together on joint projects and publications. International programmes (e.g. Pannonia Scholarship Programme) and other scholarships also allow students and lecturers to broaden their experiences by providing the framework and financial means for international exchanges, conference participation and even joint degree programmes.
