The aim of the model change

The model change aims to improve the quality of training by creating a more flexible and predictable operating environment. By renewing its operating model, which has remained unchanged for decades, the institution is going to be better equipped to meet new challenges.

The model change means that the university is no longer a directly state-maintained institution, and its founding and maintenance rights have been transferred to a trust foundation established specifically for this purpose. This ensures a more competitive and flexible operating model. A key objective is to ensure that universities play a central role in research, development and innovation, to further strengthen their inter-institutional, corporate and international relations and their international competitiveness, and to further improve the quality of education.

The university’s autonomy – and with it its responsibility – is increasing significantly. It can adapt its courses more flexibly to the demands of the 21st century labour market, thereby providing its students with more valuable knowledge. Its operations and management are becoming more flexible and cost-effective.

Our goal as maintainer of the University of Miskolc

The general objective of the Foundation is to promote higher education, public education and vocational training activities, as well as modern and internationally competitive university and off-campus education and research, to create conditions for education, training and scholarships, to provide and promote operational and development funding needs, particularly through short-, medium- and long-term agreements for the financing of the University.

Our mission

The mission of the Foundation is to exercise the founding and maintenance rights of the University of Miskolc, to ensure the conditions of its operation and the implementation of its institutional development goals – primarily through short-, medium- and long-term agreements for the financing of the University –, to continuously increase the resources available to the institution(s) maintained, for which purpose it manages the assets assigned to it by the founder or otherwise acquired by it, and those provided by the members of the Foundation, within the framework of its economic activity.

In order to improve the economic, social and international relations of Hungarian higher education, the Foundation operates a support program for teaching, scientific research, students, scholars, lecturers, researchers and teachers; provides need-based support; and supports talent management programs.

Supervision

The Foundation’s activities are supervised by the Supervisory Board and the Asset Supervisor.

Work organization

The professional and administrative tasks required for the operation of the Foundation are carried out by the Foundation’s operational staff.
